Brooklyn Cafe & Bar in Puerto Vallarta’s Centro neighborhood offers a laid-back cafe atmosphere with a distinctly local-meets-New York vibe. It’s the kind of spot where the space itself is intimate but the energy is anything but small. Locals and visitors alike come for a casual meal, whether to start the day with a well-crafted breakfast or stop by for laid-back lunch and drinks just steps from the beach.

The menu leans into comfort food with a creative twist, featuring highlights like the Hook Fries, a satisfying spinach cherry tomato apple salad, and a grilled cheese sandwich served alongside crispy fries. There’s a balance between familiar favorites and fresh seafood options such as grilled fish dishes, making it a flexible choice for groups with varied tastes. Cocktails, including a thoughtfully mixed Bloody Mary, add to the convivial atmosphere, especially later in the day.

Brooklyn Cafe & Bar has earned a reputation for consistency, notably with their chicken wings — praised by customers as some of the best in Vallarta — as well as for the friendly, welcoming staff who make it a welcoming hub for both strangers and friends. The owner’s background brings a slice of New York warmth to the space, contributing to its neighborhood feel where regulars and newcomers can easily connect.

With seating for about 25 and a dog-friendly policy (provided pets are well-behaved), this spot works well whether you’re looking for a relaxed brunch with friends, a quiet coffee to get some work done, or an unpretentious evening hangout. Mornings and early afternoons tend to feel bright and casual, with fresh coffee and breakfast items drawing in locals and remote workers alike, while the evening environment shifts toward drinks and light bites in a cozy, sociable setting.

Overall, Brooklyn Cafe & Bar fits comfortably into the rhythm of Puerto Vallarta’s Centro district as a small but lively place where food is made with care, the service never feels rushed, and you might leave having made a new connection — all just a short stroll from the beach and the bustle of the town’s historic center.

Brooklyn Cafe & Bar is a small space but they are serving up some big flavor. I say hands down that these chicken wings are some of the best in Vallarta. The main reason is the consistency, and each time you go, your meal will be just as good as if not better than your last visit. This is also the type of place you walk into, not knowing a soul and walk out having met potential new friends.

Was so happy to visit one of the few black woman owned restaurants in PV. Even happier to experience a piece of New York while in Mexico. Morena was very sweet and attentive, she gave recommendations, invited us to game night as well. I got the baileys French toast which i loved with scrambled eggs and bacon. So happy to find a spot that cooks bacon crispy lolol. My partner got the pork chop sandwich and she wasn’t very happy about it. The pork chop was very thin and overcooked. She was really bummed about it. I would come again though.

Good Dog Friendly (must be very well behaved) Today's special was deep-fried fish tacos, covered in homemade slaw. The owner was a wonderful woman. She has lived down here for 4 years and opened up the restaurant 3 years ago. And what a wonderful place. The writing on the wall tells you that. Omg the fish was fried to perfection, the weight of a feather is heavier than the batter and fish. Amazing..a must try when on the menu. I hear its a party on Friday nights. GO!

Went here today with a group of friends for lunch. Everyone loved their food, really fresh and made with care. They have cocktails too. We had a few different items, brunch egg dishes and fish and smoothies. Salads were amazing. There's seating for over 25 people. Very close to the beach. Definitely recommend.

Return trip two years later, still awesome and friendly. Great breakfast! This is a great place to find and spend an hour. Reesi was born to be a host and her personality makes the cafe a fun event. Had a good little breakfast, very tasty bacon, coffee, and OJ. I’ve never been to Brooklyn but think this has the feel of it

This is the best restaurant in PV! I had the fish sandwich and it was AMAZING! If you are in PV, come by. You won’t be disappointed!

Everything was great from the beginning to end. Attentive service, tasty food and nice air conditioned atmosphere. Don't forget to sign the wall.

My travel companion & I came in on a Saturday afternoon during our week long stay in PVR. It is a quick, 7-10min taxi ride from the Romantic Zone depending on where you start. The ambience is cozy, and pays homage to owner’s roots in Bedstuy—Bedford Stuyvesant for the uninitiated. Good: - The wings are AMAZING 10/10. The absolute best that I’ve ever had for Vallarta—& gives a number of soul food places back in the US a run for their money. - The Lemon/Blueberry pancakes were incredible. The blueberries were fresh, and quite literally bursting with juices and flavor with each bite. The menu is dotted with entrees @ sides that are staples on the African American community and will mesmerize any palate. If you come on the weekend, treat yourself to bottom mimosas-there are at least five different flavors. Bad: Nothing! No upgrades, no notes.
